Fresh off rocking his BET Cypher with the legendary DJ Premier on the turntables, unapologetically aggressive emcee Wais P gets the Premo co-sign and re-emerges with “Come Back to Collect”. While Premier lays down some of the classic scratches and head-nodding percussion he’s known for, Wais rhymes about…what else? – his prowess when it comes to the women, and getting those women to pad his bank account: “I’m better with rhymes, nouns, verbs and sh*t / even better at takin’ money out of this Persian chick”. Collect is the first release from Wais’ upcoming mixtape, Premo Pimpin’, an EP crafted entirely from Premo’s Beats That Collected Dust series.
DOWNLOAD The High Life – “El Mariachi” ATTN DJs: The High Life crew consisting of four Massachusetts-based emcees VICEVERSAH, Dominik Omega, Carolina Black, Fran-P, and their producer The Arcitype recently released their debut FreEP Iller. As part of their promotional campaign for this project, they are making both the main and clean version of “El Mariachi”, as featured on Iller, available for download. This banger seamlessly fuses the use of flamenco guitars, claps and vocal effects to create a certified head nodder that meets somewhere between the basement and the V.I.P. Combined with the edgy punchlines and wordplay from The High Life and you have a cinematic Robert Rodriguez script that comes to life. “Yo I bust that ass, fast – you couldn’t stop me/ A danger when provoked, no joke, El Mariachi/ I Go full throttle, shots from full bottles/ a one man army, just call me the desperado.”

The genesis of The High Life came about organically; all four members of Boston based hip-hop label AR Classic Records were slated to record their individual material on the same night. With everybody in one room, the group started trading verses, sharing beats, and tracking songs with one another. What had started as an ambitious recording schedule, ended in cross-pollination and the creation of a new group – The High Life.
Since then, The High Life’s diverse, dynamic and infectious energy has been turning heads and bringing the fun back to hip hop. With multiple placements on ESPN and with the support of mixtape distribution site Get Right Music, and NYC/LA streetwear company Cookies-N-Cream, the group’s hard work is already starting to pay off.
